Short answer: Tai TMS is a strong, mature broker TMS, and the usual reasons to look elsewhere are its per-tier login caps (2 staff logins on the $995 Growth plan), the price jump between tiers, or wanting AI automation included rather than added. The six alternatives below cover every budget, from a free tier to enterprise.
The alternatives at a glance
Platform | Pricing | Best for |
|---|---|---|
Polt.ai | From $1,199/month (200 loads), unlimited users | Brokers and 3PLs that want automation included and no per-user fees. |
Alvys | Per load, quoted; 14-day free trial | Operations that also run trucks or need many EDI partners. |
Descartes Aljex | From $699/month, 5 users, plus setup fee | Small, high-volume teams already on Descartes products. |
Rose Rocket | From $2,080/month, unlimited users | Mixed operations that want portals and a guided implementation. |
AscendTMS | Free Basic plan; Premium per user | New brokerages and owner-operators at low volume. |
Turvo | Pricing on request | Larger brokerages and 3PLs that work closely with shipper and carrier partners on one system. |

How to choose
If login caps are the problem, Polt, Alvys and Rose Rocket all offer unlimited users. If price is the problem, Aljex and AscendTMS start lower. If you want to keep Tai’s integrations like Greenscreens and SONAR, check each alternative’s list before moving: Polt and Aljex connect to DAT or Truckstop and MacroPoint, but not SONAR today. Run the same five loads through two demos before deciding.
